Carnivals

There are typically two carnivals held in each term of the swim season. Three are inter-club carnivals with the other being the internal Club Captains carnival.

Dates for the carnivals when agreed will be viewable in the Season Calendar. Expressions of interest (RSVPs) will be sought by the Carnival Convenor two weeks prior to the carnivals in the Upcoming Meets and Carnivals section.

All carnivals are held on a Saturday afternoon. Indicative timing of the carnivals are:

  • Principals Cup with Rochedale and Marshall Road, normally in late October or early November of Term 4.
  • Southside Friendly with Wellers Hill and Mansfield, normally in late November or early December of Term 4.
  • Captains Carnival normally in February of Term 1.
  • Three Way Carnival with Cannon Hill and Norman Park, normally in March of Term 1.

At Carnivals, two children will be selected to swim in each stroke for their age group for both the boys and girls. Children will also be selected for relays.

Children may swim up in age groups and girls may be selected to race as boys, to ensure as many children as possible get to swim.

Due to some age groups having more swimmers nominate for inter-club carnivals than can be placed in individual races swimmers may be asked to compete in races in higher age groups. Swimmers may also wish to specifically nominate to compete in higher age groups. Girls may also be selected to race in the boys races, to ensure as many children as possible get to swim.

The selection for events at carnivals will be made by the Carnival Convenor and Nominator.

Inter-club carnivals held at Camp Hill will use two timekeepers for each lane unless government health restrictions require otherwise.

Camp Hill Pool Records can only be set at home carnivals. For a record to be established or broken, the swimmer must be timed by two independent watches reading in 100ths of a second.

Club swim caps MUST be worn when representing Camp Hill Amateur Swim Club at inter-club carnivals. The Club encourages that all swimmers wear the Club swimmers, Club swim cap and Club cap. The Camp Hill swim gear is outlined in the Merchandise section of the web site. These can be obtained from the Merchandise committee member.

Maps showing the location of the swim clubs for away carnivals can be viewed here.
