Club Nights

Club Nights are held on Friday evenings throughout the summer school terms 1 & 4. Please take the time to review the Club Night Rules. Gates open at 6pm with races starting at 6:30pm. There is a small fee upon entry with an option to also purchase some raffle tickets.

The Club Night order of events are a 100 metre Special Event followed by the 25 metre and 50 metre races for each stroke. Swimmers can choose to participate in one event up to a maximum of five events (Special Event and one distance of each stroke). Nominations for events at a Club Night are done online at the Upcoming Meets and Carnivals section. Please note as a matter of school policy all swimmers must wear a cap in the pool.

Volunteering for Club Night tasks is done online when nominating for each club night. We request that each family volunteer at least one night per season to help out in the canteen, on the BBQ, assist at the gate, marshalling, set-up or pack-up. We also request that each family volunteer for a minimum of four nights per season to timekeeping.

To allow time to arrange races for the Club Night, nominations close at 4:30pm Friday unless otherwise indicated. Should you need to withdraw your child(ren) from events or yourself from a volunteer role after sign-up has closed, please contact the Chief Nominator via [email protected] or SMS on 0401 077 981.

All swimmers are required to first swim 25 metres prior to progressing to 50 metres. This is so the swim database can register an initial time for each stroke to be able to seed each swimmer correctly in the future. For older swimmers starting at the club this process can be somewhat frustrating. We endeavour to minimise the impact of this by manually seeding older swimmers in faster 25 metre races where possible.

Times required over 25 metres to progress to 50 metre races are:

  • Under 24 seconds for freestyle;
  • Under 25 seconds for butterfly;
  • Under 26 seconds for backstroke;
  • Under 29 seconds for breaststroke.

Special Event

Entry to the individual stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke) Special Event requires swimmers to have a 50 metre freestyle time below 40 seconds.

The individual medley (IM) Special Event is open to everyone as a trial for younger swimmers in preparation for the Individual Medley night held at the end of the season.

Younger swimmers participating in the IM Special Event do not need to enter other strokes that night. Only three stroke events (backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke) will be held on a Club Night with the IM Special Event due to the expected larger number of Special Event participants.

Wet Weather Policy

Friday Club Night will generally still be held when it is raining unless it is torrential and/or there is lightning.

The pool will be shut if there is lightning.

If there is a storm on a Friday Club Night, a decision will be made at 6:15pm at the pool as to whether to proceed, delay the start or cancel the night.

Please refer to the News Items on the Club website or our Facebook group Camp Hill Crocs Swim Club for up to the minute information.
