Wishart and Coorparoo Swim Carnival RSVP Closes Today at 6pm
Dear Croc Families,
RSVPs for the swim carnival with Wishart and Coorparoo close today at 6pm (flyer attached). If your children would like to participate please ensure to RSVP. For people new to the club the process for carnivals is different to club nights. Races are held for each age group for each stroke as well as medley and freestyle relays for age groups 9 and under, 10-12 and 13 and over, with each club having two lanes in each race. Each event has a girls race and a mixed race (typically for boys but girls can swim in this race also). Races are 25m for 9 years and younger and 50m for 10 and over or 100m and 200m for relays respectively. Age is determined by age on blocks. Please just nominate the children that intend to swim - we will then allocate swimmers to events as best we can to try and give all swimmers as many races as possible.
When nominating there is a notes section for you to advise answers to the questions listed, these being:
- If your child(ren) is/are happy to swim above their age group?
- What strokes our child(ren) is/are happy to swim?
- If you would like to take part in the parents' event?
- If you would be happy to offer any assistance on the day? If so please review the jobs sign up sheet.
The reason for the first two questions is that due to the age distribution of the club we normally have a lot of nominations for the younger races. To try and give children as many swims as possible we may look to have either girls swimming in mixed races or swimmers participating in older age groups where we have fewer or no swimmers. This is to help the club get points as we get no points if we have no swimmer. This can at times require 25m swimmers to race in 50m events. We generally try to only have swimmers who are already doing 50m at club nights do this. Hence we seek your guidance via the notes to help us to manage the race allocations.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Regards, Jimmy.
